Decorating with Quilts

Isn't this quilt stunning? I absolutely love the horses under the quilt.
More pictures of this house can be seen at this Blog.  Check out the rug,
it is hooked and braided.  It was commissioned to include the local scenery
 around the house. Simply Amazing.
Rural Intelligence Style

I like the way this home owner has turned an old ladder into a piece of art
by hanging quilts on it.  And of course I can't resist those stars on the wall.

Don't you love how this homeowner has used this quilt as a headboard.
Check out those crock lamps.  I wonder if they are old ones converted to lamps.

This grouping just makes me smile.  Who can't resist the lover's knot (I think
that is what it is called) pattern on the chair?  Not me, I have one in my house!

I'm on a quilt theme for the next couple of posts and hope to show some pictures on
a few rugs in progress.

Quilt Eye Candy

As I was perusing Pinterest this morning, four quilts caught my eye and I thought I would share them with you.  I must have looked at 100 quilts but these four called to me.  In studying them, the common thread between the four is the red as their base color.
OH MY STARS QUILT

This quilt is offered as a pattern by MAKE IT DO and is a downloadable in PDF format for $8.00 which is a bargain in my humble opinion.  You can find the pattern HERE.   Below is another picture of it. SWOON!!
This pattern could possibly convince me to quilt again.
The next two Quilts are antiques offered by Harvey Antiques.  This pattern is called Fox and Geese   and you can find it HERE
And this one HERE
Couldn't you see this made with wool pieces?

This antique quilt reminds me of Spring. Love the red celery green color combination.  Nice inspiration for a hooked rug both in composition and palette.

You can see this quilt at this auction house

Til the next time, Maria

Another giveway

Yes, it's true, another giveaway to celebrate the website. I'll announce the winner tomorrow around 10:00 pm.

Because I love Magdalena Briner's rugs, I am offering the book about Magdalena Briner's rugs and life.

This book was written by Kathy Wright and Evelyn Lawrence and is a must have particularly if you love old rugs. These ladies did a fabulous job giving the reader a better understanding of her life and her rugs. The pictures in the book documenting her rugs are so inspirational.

To be entered in the giveaway, kindly leave a message in the comment section telling everyone why you love Magdalena's style of hooking.

I've been hooking Magdalena's rugs for years. My favorite rug is her two crow and dog rug.

My logo rug below was based on this rug.

Here is my small version of her two horse rug.

Until tomorrow, Maria

Giveaway winner and a little inspiration

Thanks again to all who participated in today's giveaway. The lucky number today is  14.  Liz you are the owner of 1 yard of purple wool! Kindly email me your address to maria@starrugcompany.com, I'll get the wool right out to you.

Now to explain the pictures. I was walking through an elementary school recently and these wonderful artistic chalk painted leaves caught my eye.

Didn't the children do a great job capturing the beauty of a leaves?

Don't you wonder what the art assignment was?

Normally I think of leaves as orange, yellow or red colored but these works of art certainly opened my mind to see leaves differently....in a more abstract colorful way.

One of my future projects and challenges will be to use these works of art as inspiration in a design.

My Website is Close to being Done

I'm so excited for everyone to see my new website. The person creating it for me, Becky, has done a wonderful job. It is fresh, fun and easy to navigate. She has such a unique approach to the website and I couldn't be happier. I told her she better be ready because I think she could receive requests to build websites. Look for the new website within the next week. Maria
